Gmail Signature Issue

I have been using Gmail since Apr. 21st 2004. I loved all its features and the 1000 mb space :)

I still remmember when a lot of people requested for the Signature option and gmail team responded with the same in cpl. month’s time. I was also happy after they introduced the feature, but now I think they made a mistake.

When I reply/forward a message in Gmail, the other people’s messages are included in the email and the signature after those messages, but I think the signature should be appended before all those messages. I am not sure if technically sig should go at the absolute bottom(end) of the email or if it has to be at the end of the message which is written by the sender at that time.

Moody Plugin updated

I downloaded Moody Plugin for wordpress a few days back. I needed it as I was missing lj. It was almost what I needed, but it showed a broken image if the mood’s image wasn’t present in the moods directory. The plugin works great for wp/computer literate users, but not for those who don’t know much about how things work at the backend. I am working on a site where I will have a lot of authors who are not computer savvy. So I hacked the plugin little bit and came up with a version which shows text for the mood when the image is not available.

Download the plugin file here. Change the file name from Moody.phps to Moody.php and follow the other directions available at the creator’s site. This post is a demo in itself.

gsharma.com is also powered by Authimage Hack which is coded by the same author.

Sergey embarrased!

An interesting article was posted at /. today. The article suggested that Google Images might be blocking images from Abu Ghraib incident, whereas its competitors show the images. Later an update was posted, according to which Sergey, the co-founder of Google, admitted that Google wasn’t censoring the image but the image index is not updated so frequently.

In short, There is no censorship here. We are embarassed that our image index is not updated as frequently as it should be. Expect a refresh in the near future.

A few days back there was another controversy about Google News’ Censorship for Chinese. The article at newscientist says:

The internet’s most popular search engine Google has been accused of supporting Chinese internet controls by omitting contentious news stories from search results in China.

and google replies:

“In order to create the best possible news search experience for our users, we sometimes decide not to include some sites, for a variety of reasons,” says a statement issued by the company. “These sources were not included because their sites are inaccessible.”

Am still wondering if Google is being used by Chinese government to censor the content they want to censor?
Chinese government has been censoring content provided on the Internet.

Google’s inability to uptade their Image index as frequent as their competitor can give them a bad name and may reflect on the wall street tomorrow (or later). It dropped about 8.3% on friday. $167.75 was the last trade, lets see how does it react tomorrow? (today in 10 minutes)

Diwali Mela was fun

Yesterday went to Diwali Mela at Mountain View. It took about 1.5 hours to drive but was fun!!

The shoreline amphitheatre was close to Googleplex.

The show was great and the Mela was even better. i was too nostalgic and it reminded me a lot of India as there were a lot of vibrant faces :>

I danced with Mickey Narula (Jaspinder Narula’s Brother) and also got a face to face interaction with Sukhwinder Singh.

For detailed information about the mela refer to this.

The Bush Phenomenon!

I haven’t liked Bush ever since…. he attacked Iraq. Watched Farenheit 9/11 a few days back and disliked him even more….

Other day in my philosophy class we discussed how Hitler started a fire in German Parliament and declared that they were under attack by Terrorists and he wanted more powers as the chancelor, which reminded us of the Patriot Act. The mechanism of terror really works, when you scare people and scare them repeatedly they stop thinking and want to get rid of the terror.

The war on Taliban/AL – Qaida was justifiable and was supported by the whole world including U.N. …but acc. to Michael Moore (F – 9/11) Manhattan had more cops than the army sent to Afghanistan and the army didn’t attack the area, where OBL was hiding until 2 months of their operation….

…but what Bush did was started another war against Iraq. The pretext: Saddam and Al Qaida, Al Qaida and Saddam – Couldn’t prove it. Then the whole world was told that Saddam is evil coz he has WMDs… they had proofs…. WMDs haven’t been found yet…. then came the nobel cause….. – The people of America, under the leadership of President Bush would help the ones who are deprived, who are seeking justice…. America gave them justice by attacking Iraq, without the consent of U.N. and many other countries…. Saddam was captured and the war had ended…yay!!!! but wait a minute, what is US Army still doing there? Getting there soilders killed? Killing more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians (Hitler killed 4 – 6 m Jews….we are lagging far behind)

Why doesn’t Bush leave them alone and bring his tired and frustrated army back? and what about the OBL dude? Last I heard was that he was somewhere b/w Pakistan and Afghanistan’s border….. how hard is it to find him? Bush got Afghanistan’s support and also mr. Musharraf wouldn’t make Bush unhappy either.

If the WMDs were the real concern then Bush should ask N. Korea to disarm or ask our padosi desh to have a purely democratic govt. without any dictator or military rule.

As far as the elections are concerned…I think Kerry was definetly a weak candidate. Ds should have had a stronger candidate, someone like Clinton. Now I am wondering how unsafe would this world be on 2nd Nov. 2008.

Forget Bush, vote for Amitabh.
